Ep. 23: Clinton T. Rubin, PhD - Improving Bone Growth and Density with Mechanical Stimulation
◽ LINK below ◽ Different types of vibration can be healing, but they can also be detrimental to your health. That’s why it’s very important to listen to the interview that I did with Dr. Clinton Rubin, who is the most cited researcher in the area of vibration therapy. He’s a SUNY Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Director of the Center for Biotechnology at Stony Brook University, and, in his own words, very opinionated when it comes to vibrations, and what helps and what not.

‼️‼️‼️ SURGEONS CAN BE LOUSY COMMUNICATORS… As to lumbar spinal fusion, the hardware has no purpose after 2 years and in my personal experience of torture, the hardware should be removed if there is pain, especially agonizing when sitting for over 20 minutes. I waited 12 damn long years in pain and only after over a decade of pain meds approved by the surgeon and I finally pushed the surgeon, and then the surgeon said, “well, we could remove the hardware” (first I heard of that). It was night and day. It healed fast (not pain free) but miles better. SURGEONS DONT ALWAYS COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY… They are off to the next ‘effen’ surgery. The morale of the story is SPEAK UP when you are in pain and press the issue. Don’t get the con game of another level of fusion. One was enough. I regret it but it was the only offering in 2003. I did my research! I flew to Barcelona in 2016 to get the worlds best artificial disc (at the time) by a top neurosurgeon (Clavel) who had a stellar record of 550 lumbar implants when the US was dragging their heals around a decade behind Europe. There are different surgical options in the US now. For spine related issues, one could watch UA-cam’s from Dr. Ara Deukmajian (Deuk spine) and another Dr, Jeffery Cantor. These surgeons avoid fusion altogether. MRI reviews by email and outpatient surgery means you own life back home in less than a week. When you think about it, the travel is actually a tiny inconvenience in getting your life back. These are my experiences and opinions. The fact is, all surgeons are not created equal and buzz phrases like “fusion is the gold standard” is bullshit in my book.

I ordered and paid for a Marodyne Liv device from the UK supplier on the 24th October. Their phones are no longer working, comments are turned off on their videos. I have no delivery date, I was told it would come in 4 weeks or less. That time has gone by. I am not getting a response from the owner. I'm 71 and a pensioner on a low income. This is devastating for me, it's money I couldn't afford to lose. The company is LIVMD UK. Please don't buy from them if you are in the UK.

Thank you for the conversation we had yesterday Dr. Hanscom. Started to write last nite, just a short 5 minute, slept crappy but woke up from a 10 pain yesterday to an 8 today. Maybe placebo. Even went for a short walk in pain but the sun felt good. I DID NOT THINK ABOUT MY PAIN. However, the caveat for me is the benzos (20 years of benzos regularly. I feel it is going to hinder my healing. I am always in fight or flight because of rebound symptoms and tolerance. So short of breath, no exercise tolerance, and you talk about symptoms. Most of my symptoms are very typical of benzo tolerance and I can list about 50 symptoms. They just stop working and I cant get past this. Taper will be brutal. Surgery in 5 and 1/2 weeks ….i feel Im on a stressful time frame to “get free” from my pain. (Shelly)

How can you do this with a 5 yr old. My son broke his leg, right above the ankle. The doc said it all healed now but he refuses to put his foot down. He has PTSD over it. He is afraid he will break it again. We have tried incensives, taking things away. Nothing has worked. He just flamingos and refused to put any weight on it without the boot. With the boot he can run, jump and even break dance. I worried the longer he wears the boot the longer it will take for him to walk on his own. I would appreciate any advice you can give.

Thank you for this video I found you 8 weeks into my injury. I am a hyper woman who is always on the go. I have never slept so much in my life. This is a time to reflect and put all that good food into your body and see how ugly some human beings can be at a vulnerable stage. I only eat fish once a month but was craving meat and could not eat fish. Now I am at the 8th week and grossed out by meat and fish. I am on bone broth for now but want to go back to a plant based diet. I wish I would have found you sooner. Do not fight your body when it says I want to sleep. Also keeping your leg higher than your heart makes such a huge difference. Use this time to heal, organize your life and see how people react during this vulnerable stage. This is not just a broken bone that needs to heal but your body as she mentions and mentally on so many levels. You will be making a lot of changes into your life in a positive way if you are open to it. Also if you are able to get a pair of HOKA sneakers or at least the recovery slip ons. I also have fitflops which are recommended. You will need lifts for your shoe to be even with the boot or you will have problems. Simple to order or just get some old shoes and glue the sole onto the other shoe. Much Love and grateful for this video.
